Over the past associate of weeks, teams have seen their schedules changed and games cancelled at the last minute due to multiple players returning positive Covid-19 tests, sometimes on the day of the fixture.

That was the case for Aston Villa at the weekend, when their Premier League game against Burnley was postponed around two hours before kick-off due to several positive Covid situations in Steven Gerrard’s squad.

Guardiola makes ‘behaviour’ comment after Grealish snub

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was asked why Jack Grealish was surprisingly left out of the 4-0 win at Newcastle United after the victory at St James’ Park on Sunday.

City cruised to victory against obliging opponents thanks to goals from Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling.

However, there was no place in the starting XI for former Aston Villa captain Grealish or Phil Foden.

Grealish had started the past three of City’s matches and scored his first Premier League goal since August in the 7-0 rout of Leeds United last Tuesday.

However, this time he had to sit on the bench for the entirety of a game in which City went 2-0 up inside half-an-hour.
